Here’s a song I wrote a few years ago but just recorded again. It has always meant a lot to me and I hope its a blessing to you.
You can hear it here.
Forearm’s Length
By Tom Schmidt
There was a king, who reigned in power.
He owned all things, and every eye knew,
There is only one king.
He was terrifying and at the same time good.
He ordered all things, for the good of those who loved him so.
Don’t keep him at a forearm’s length,
He’s closer than you know, closer than you think.
He formed you in your mother’s womb and he knows your heart.
He gives life, makes all things new.
There is a king, who took off his purple robes,
Dwelt among his people, became a lowly man, a lonely man.
Full of compassion,
He was kind-hearted and looked on them with love,
Gave his life up for rebels,
For men like you, for men like me.
Don’t keep him at a forearm’s length,
He’s closer than you know, closer than you think.
He formed you in your mother’s womb and he knows your heart.
He gives life, makes all things new.
There will be a king, whose reign will never end.
Every knee will bow down, and every tongue confess.
There will be a separation,
The wicked depart, but the clean will stay.
Will you be one of his beloved?
He offers you that choice today.
Don’t keep him at a forearm’s length,
He’s closer than you know, closer than you think.
He formed you in your mother’s womb and he knows your heart.
He gives life, makes all things new.
