Original Case of Identity Theft

The original identity theft happened in the Garden of Eden, when the first humans assumed they could take the place of God and decide on their own autonomous reason how one ought to live and think. The creature sought to usurp and displace the place of the Creator. The result was not happiness and peace, but alienation from God and each other, along with spiritual and physical death and destruction. Now we are left in the mess and confusion and repeated mistake of thinking we can do the same.

What a marvel that God Himself would enter into human history—the person Jesus Christ—and bring us into the truth. He rescues us from the ARROGANT presumption that we know better than God, and the FOOLISH rejection of God’s wisdom and truth.  Jesus claims to tell us the truth about reality, and when we enter into this truth we experience freedom and joy (John 8:31-32)
