Church Planting: Next 6 Months
In my previous post I spoke about some of the highlights from the first three months of my church planting residency. Here’s what we hope to accomplish in the next 6 months:
–Build a prayer team: We hope to find 100-200 people who will commit to praying for us and for the church plant regularly (either daily, weekly, or monthly). It is vital that we cover our ministry in prayer and it will be the task of our prayer team to regularly and sacrificially intercede for us–asking God to glorify His Name in our church plant, to protect us from the devil’s schemes and temptations of the flesh, to open doors to share the gospel with the lost, and to magnify His grace through the salvation of lost who place their faith in Jesus.
–Build a financial support team: Doing ministry in Naperville is expense. We are trusting that God will provide for our financial needs as we plant a new church here. Our needs are great: rental space for corporate worship each week, materials for outreach, funding for a salary, etc. We are seeking churches and individuals to join our financial team and give one-time gifts and monthly contributions. If you want to help, please send your tax-deductible gifts to Redeemer Fellowship (checks made out to Redeemer) at this address: 1125 Oak St, St. Charles, IL. 60174 (with a note indicating that you wish for the funds to be directed toward Cross of Christ Fellowship).
–Build a core team: We hope to build a team of committed Christians who will come with us to start this new church in Naperville. We are praying God raises up a team of 10-20 by April and 30-40 by June. Presently, there are only two of us committed (Rachel and I), so we have a long ways to go! We hope that the team will be made up individuals from different places in life (young, old, married, single, without kids, with kids). We are asking that God raises up ‘laborers for the harvest’ to come and share the gospel with us in Naperville (Luke 10:2).
–Find a location to live in and meet for worship: Rach and I are moving to Naperville in June 2014 and our church will start meeting corporately for public worship at some point after that.
–Finish our assessment with Acts 29. Next month (Jan), Rach and I will be interviewed and formally assessed with Acts 29 (church planting network that we hope to be a part of). Please pray for wisdom and favor as we go through this.
-Website design and logo. We have a friend named Brian Malcom who is highly skilled in this, so we are looking forward to seeing what he will come up with for Cross of Christ Fellowship.
Please pray for each other things and consider joining us. Maybe God will you to be a part of our prayer, financial, or core team…
And he [Jesus] said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
